This is such a beautiful piece, Soph! It's so special that you have such a great connection with your dad and something that brings you so close together 🤎
I would bet that he loves just being with you. Cinema or no. (Dune part 2 was spectacular by the way). There is something about the relationship between a father and daughter. Nice work here Sophie. Well done done
Thank you so much Allan! You’re very right, and I love just being with him too. Dune 2 is amazing isn’t it?! I actually got Dad a BTS book for Father’s Day as he loved the film so much.
My daughter Mary is one of my closest allies and also my biggest cheerleader. She has encouraged me to write on Substack. Our relationship is quite special. She is the one person on the earth who loves me unequivocally and without caveat. I can imagine it is the same for you and your Dad.
I really admire the way you build connection with your parents (just read your piece about you Mum). As my parents get older, I also want to take them out more often so that they can have more chance to experience life. Just feel the urge to make up for all the time of their youth they sacrificed for my upbringing.
Oh thank you so much Alyssa. I definitely feel the same - I want the relationship to be on a more level playing field now I’m more independent of them. I love knowing my parents as people as well as parents now! 🥰
Thank you so much Ken! I think the most memorable thing is Dad never tried to force it. God knows he has hobbies I’m not interested in (as much as he’d love me to enjoy cycling 🤣). You’re probably already making those wonderful bonds without even realising!

Oh thank you so much Madeline! I am very lucky 🫶

I absolutely love this, thank you so much for sharing your relationship. It sounds wonderful! It’s definitely the same with me and my dad 🥰

Wonderful post, Soph. Has me considering ways I might form a bond like this with my boys :)

I love this so much
Thank you so, so much!
A great piece about shared interest. I am obsessed with cinema and like when I can take my Mum once in a while.
Thank you so much Jamie! Quality time with parents is always a treat, isn’t it? Hoping me and Dad can go and see Furiosa this weekend.
Love this! So glad you have these special memories and lovely bond. 🫶🏻🤩
Thank you so much Elaine! ❤️
