SUCH an interesting topic, and even more so following Millie Bobby Brown's comments about how she's being treated by the media at the moment, specifically when she says "I grew up in front of the world, and, for some reason, people can't seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I'm supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things season one. And because I don't, I'm now a target." I feel like Millie is a real-time example of what you're talking about, and she's not even been on reality TV, this is someone who's been on a scripted series and had her personal life peered in on. I can't imagine how it would feel if it was your real life people are making judgement about.
YES exactly this! I listened to Cole Sprouse's episode on DOAC (back when I liked Stevie B) and he had so many interesting things to say about his childhood/puberty years being in the public eye. He took time away from acting and the spotlight to go to college etc to decide whether he *actually* wanted this life for himself. It's interesting that Dylan is rarely in anything nowadays and Cole is very picky about his roles.
Molly Mae released a vlog this week about potentially turning her doc into a reality series and she didn't once mention the concern for Bambi, but she did talk about whether it would upset her YouTube family. I'm sure she's had these discussions off-screen but it was a perfect opportunity to share how she's considering her daughter's welfare in all of it.
Oh I forgot about that - I listened to him on Call Her Daddy and remember feeling quite jarred by his thoughts on being a child actor. On the Zack & Cody topic, interesting that Brenda Song has been talking about what a wonderful experience she had on the show, and I was actually quite surprised to hear that given that normally you hear the total opposite.
I wonder if one influencer has to start a 'trend' of having privacy for their children for everyone else to follow suit. Like if you're so used to having cameras around all the time, do you forget that others might think it's alien? Actually fascinated by this now lol
That’s very true! The younger gen from Modern Family seem to have had a good experience too - it’s a shame that it’s a surprise when these kids don’t come out awful.
This is such a good idea and I do wish influencers and celebs would do that, not just for the sake of their kids’ futures but also you’d think they’d want some privacy/things to themselves too?
Soph you really ate with this one!!!!!
