Welcome to The Quiet 20s, a corner of the internet where we love slow living, books, and navigating the whirlwind decade of your 20s. I’d love to have you here!

With the way everything is going in the Big Wide World, it’s really easy to get bogged down by it all - and I’m certainly not immune. Selfishly, alongside the global devastations, rise of AI (booo) and the ever-worsening climate crisis, my personal life is chaotic enough at the moment. My day job is busier than ever, I’m trying to grow a side business while maintaining my hobbies and a social life, I’ve not had a working day off all year, my house still needs decorating, the laundry and dishes constantly need doing, our lovely dog’s training is going well but remains extremely emotionally draining (having a nervous rescue is not for the weak)… and to top things off, my lawn needs mowing every two minutes.

Sometimes it feels like my brain could explode with overwhelm.

And so I’ve found myself working pretty hard to not get that overwhelmed. It’s difficult to balance that without sticking your head in the sand, but I’m very slowly getting there. Instead, I’ve been trying to find glimpses of joy in the simple pleasures and, in turn, remind myself why I love slow living so much.

Ideally, these moments shouldn’t cost much (if anything) so they’re easier to access and don’t tie happiness to monetal value. Slowly but surely, I can feel my brain recognising glimmers of joy without me actively searching for them - and that natural acknowledgement then gives me a bonus boost too.

Here are some recent examples…
